Are we safe in our home or at work?

Life is very important to every creature on this earth. Every life is precious. We enjoy the beauty of our lives when we are happy and content with what we have. With technology advancements, life has become even more easy to live on. But are we safe in the place where we live? Are we safe at the place we work? Are our children safe in their schools? These are the worries we all have, that hamper our happiness.

A few days ago, I came across a thought provoking incident that pushed me to write this article. A person got a beautiful gym made for himself that was facing the road. The
view from the room, that was enclosed with glass doors on all sides, was an awesome delight. A beautiful park on the other side of the room, was very peaceful.
One busy day, the gym was full. All the equipments were under use. Everyone in the gym were enjoying the cloudy weather outside. People waiting for the equipments were discussing about the beauty of the weather. A drizzle outside was worth watching, when suddenly it turned to be a big storm. The roads were empty, the Park was empty. The outside of the gym, was shaking with the sudden fierce wind that was blowing at high speed. Sensing the danger, a few left the gym to wait downstairs. However, a few innocent people, waited inside the gym, for the storm to get over. Suddenly the glass from all the four sides shattered. The shatter was so big that all the glass broke down into sharp edged pieces. People inside were completely flooded with the pieces of glass and the rain water all over. A few people got injured as the glass shattered into sharp pieces.
This incident threw me into a provoking thought. Is glass really safe? Can Safety and Glass co-exist? That is when i started doing a little more research on the topic. And i found, YES, Glass and Safety can co-exist. We as consumers should know there is something called Safety glass.
When i dug a little deeper, i understood that there are different types of glass in this World. The type of glass used by the Gym owner was annealed glass. Annealed glass can break under minimum impact. When shattered, it leaves small sharp edged pieces, which may cause harm/injury.
However, among the other types of glass, Safety/Toughened glass is best suited for interiors or high rise buildings or commercial buildings. This glass not only adds safety aspect but keeps our home look elegant and beautiful.
The above incident has also led me to think about the safety in workplaces or schools. When we go to work, all we are concerned about is the Salary and the Work Culture. But have we ever thought of Safety? Do we even look into the infrastructure having
proper fire systems or safety measures taken by the premises? When we admit our kids in schools. We look at their education curriculum and their facilities, but turn a blind eye to the safety aspects. Just spending a few minutes to understand the safety at our workplace and schools, itself defines how serious we are about our life, goals and ambitions.
After having gained enough knowledge about the existence of Safety Glass, i have started #SafetyFirst and #UseSafetyGlassMission campaigns to educate consumers about the usage of Safety Glass.
